On September 11, the State Administration for Market Regulation published a public notice revealing that the equity transaction involving Chongqing Yaoning New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., participated in jointly by Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) and ZEEKR Automotive (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., received unconditional approval on September 3, 2026. The acquisition is not being executed unilaterally by CATL; rather, it is being conducted through Times Geely Power Battery Co., Ltd., the joint venture established between GEELY AUTO and CATL, representing a routine asset optimization within their existing collaborative framework.

Upon completion of the transaction, day-to-day operations of Chongqing Yaoning will be assumed by Times Geely, with GEELY AUTO continuing to play a significant role in the project. Industry analysts suggest this adjustment reflects Geely's strategic focus under its "One Geely" initiative, without affecting the advancement of its in-house battery development strategy. As of April 2025, Geely's battery operations were consolidated into Jiyue Tongxing, which subsequently launched the unified "Shendun Golden Brick Battery" brand while streamlining duplicate investments and marginal production capacity to enhance resource efficiency and overall investment returns.

The benefits of this self-developed battery integration are becoming increasingly evident: Jiyue Tongxing has established ten smart manufacturing bases and three research institutes, with cumulative cell shipments reaching 75 million units as of the second quarter of 2026. This year alone, the company has brought 70 GWh of production capacity online, projecting revenue of RMB 30 billion, with future capacity expected to expand to 150 GWh. GEELY AUTO will continue to adhere to its battery supply structure of "self-development plus strategic collaboration plus diversified supplementation," further strengthening stability across its battery supply chain.
