Speaking at the 2026 Technology Innovation Conference on Wednesday afternoon, JD Logistics (02618.HK) Industry General Manager Chen Jia outlined the criteria for investing in robotics firms within logistics operations, emphasizing two key factors: the ability to complete specific operational tasks and the capacity for continuous, stable performance. Chen noted that many robotics companies remain in the demo validation stage, whereas real-world factory environments and processing materials differ significantly from laboratory conditions.

As a logistics provider, JD Logistics is committed to giving robotics enterprises the opportunity to learn and improve, expressing a desire to "support these companies and drive growth across the entire industry." In particularly demanding operational settings, Chen stated candidly that the company is "very willing to pay for robotic equipment to reduce the physical strain on frontline workers." For mature technologies, the payback period requirement has already tightened from an initial 5-8 years to under 3 years.
