Bank of America (BAC.US) has brought in Srijith Nair from Goldman Sachs to serve as its head of financial institutions group (FIG) investment banking for Asia Pacific excluding China, according to an internal memo reviewed by the media on Thursday. Nair will be based in Singapore and will report directly to Michael Evans, who leads the FIG investment banking division for the region.

Nair brings over two decades of investment banking experience to his new role, having previously held leadership positions at Barclays, Daiwa Securities, and Citigroup. In his most recent post at Goldman Sachs, he served as head of the Southeast Asia financial institutions group, advising banks, insurers, asset managers, and leasing firms across various markets.

The FIG division focuses on serving financial institutions such as banks, insurance companies, and asset management firms. Nair's appointment is expected to deepen the bank's advisory capabilities across these sectors in the region, leveraging his extensive background in cross-border transactions and client relationships.

Michael Evans, head of FIG investment banking for Asia Pacific at Bank of America, said in the memo that the move strengthens the firm's position among the top three FIG franchises in the region. He added that it also enhances connectivity and collaboration across their global platform, aligning with the bank's strategy to better serve clients in dynamic financial markets.

The hire underscores the competitive talent landscape in regional investment banking as global lenders vie for senior professionals with deep sector expertise. Nair's track record includes advising a wide range of financial clients throughout Asia, positioning him to drive growth and deepen client engagement in his new capacity.
