Shares of the Southern 2x Long Tesla (07766) product rallied more than 2% during Friday's trading session, with the instrument climbing 2.55% to reach HK$82.70 at the time of writing, accompanied by turnover of approximately HK$220,800.
The upward momentum follows reports from market sources on September 17 indicating that Tesla Motors (TSLA.US) has issued a substantial purchase order to its suppliers for approximately 5,000 units of its Optimus humanoid robot. This marks the company's first mass-production order at the thousand-unit scale, following earlier trial production batches numbering in the hundreds.
In parallel, Tesla is accelerating its supply chain qualification process for the Optimus humanoid robot within China, with factory inspections underway at supplier facilities across Shanghai, Hangzhou, Ningbo, and Xiamen. These site visits represent a crucial step in preparing for large-scale manufacturing.
UBS has previously published an industry report on humanoid robotics, projecting that Tesla Motors' Optimus Gen3 will commence production in the summer of 2026, achieving high-volume output by 2027. The investment bank noted that if the Gen3 exceeds expectations in both its AI models and dexterous hand technology—particularly regarding micro planetary roller screws and tendon-driven actuation—this would create favorable conditions for the company's supply chain partners.
