Value investor Duan Yongping said on Snowball platform on September 15 that he did not dare to increase his position in Occidental Petroleum (OXY) when its stock price fell to around $40, and on the same day he sold all covered call options. Duan admitted that he does not "truly understand" the company, stating: "If you don't truly understand, copying homework is also very difficult." Regarding the option sale, he explained: "I won't feel bad if the calls are exercised," indicating he is prepared for the shares to be called away. Duan, a longtime Occidental investor, had previously bought the stock multiple times, but his hesitation to add at the low level drew market attention. Occidental shares were trading near $40 at the time of his post, down sharply from earlier highs. Duan did not disclose his exact holdings.
