Shares of PATEO (02889) climbed nearly 5% during morning trading on Monday, building on investor optimism after the company announced a significant overseas milestone. As of the time of writing, the stock was up 4.52% to HK$87.80, with turnover reaching HK$13.84 million.
The rally follows a September 14 announcement in which PATEO disclosed that it had received an official project designation notice from a leading domestic premium new energy vehicle (NEV) OEM. This marks the company's first selection as a supplier for the OEM's flagship brand's next-generation overseas models, tasked with developing and mass-producing high-end intelligent cockpit domain controllers and AI interaction systems based on Qualcomm's 8397 chip platform—the latest generation of Snapdragon cockpit chips designed to power on-device AI capabilities, multimodal interaction, and multi-screen connectivity.
Where the opportunity lies
The project covers the initial batch of vehicles in the OEM's overseas product lineup, with subsequent models built on the same platform also slated to utilize this chip architecture. The scope of the overseas rollout spans key global markets, including Europe, Central and South America, Canada, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, Central Asia, Africa, and Oceania, signaling a substantial expansion for PATEO beyond its domestic footprint.
Investors are viewing this as a strategic breakthrough for the company, given the growing demand for high-performance cockpit solutions in international NEV markets and the potential for recurring revenue from platform-wide adoption.
