Gilt Yields Fall After U.K. Inflation Aligns with Expectations

0732 GMT - Yields on U.K. government bonds, or gilts, decline following the release of U.K. inflation data for August. While the annual headline inflation rose to 3.1% in August from 2.9% in July, this was in line with expectations and annual core inflation remained unchanged at 2.6%. The core inflation data suggests underlying price pressures have been relatively stable, Moneyfarm's Richard Flax says in a note. Ten-year gilt yields drop 4.6 basis points to last trade at 5.355%, having hit a 19-year high of 5.439% earlier this week, LSEG data show.
