Materials Down as U.S. Dollar Gains, Gold Falls

Producers of metals, grains and other raw materials fell as the U.S. dollar gained ahead of the Federal Reserve's rate decision.

The Fed is almost certain to hike interest rates, a generally bullish action for the national currency.

Dollar-sensitive gold futures fell 0.4% to $4291.60 a troy ounce, and are on the verge of bear-market territory, 19% below their January highs.
