Planet Labs Gets Satellite Tender Award from German Government

Planet Labs Germany was awarded a satellite services tender by the German government.

The award includes options and has a maximum possible value of 25 million euros, equal to about $28.9 million, over five years.

The data company said Tuesday it will provide satellite tasking capabilities to the Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy, which is coordinating and distributing imagery to serve German civil government authorities.

Planet will also deliver a cloud-native software-as-a-service and platform solution securely deployed on European cloud infrastructure.

Planet has had a relationship with the German cartography entity since 2021. Its satellite data supports more than 400 federal institutions in the country.

Planet is currently expanding its European headquarters, which are located in Berlin.
