Shares of Waystar climbed following a Reuters report that said the company is exploring options, including a potential sale which could take it private.

The stock rose 16%, to $28.81, in premarket trading Tuesday. Through Monday's close, shares have lost roughly 24% of their value year to date.

Waystar, whose software is used by hospitals and doctors to manage payments, has hired investment bank Evercore as an advisor, Reuters said, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The process is currently at an early stage, meaning plans could change and a sale may not materialize, the sources said.

Waystar declined to comment to Reuters. Evercore didn't immediately respond to a request for comment, the report said.
