President Donald Trump on September 14 posted on social media platform X, accusing those who claim artificial intelligence will destroy the world and data centers are bad for neighborhoods of being the same people who previously said the world would be extinguished by climate change, which he called a "HOAX."
"The people that say AI is going to destroy the World, and that Data Centers are bad for your neighborhood, are the same people that said, just a short time ago, that the World would be extinguished by 'Climate Change.' That HOAX never worked out for them, and now they're on to the next one," Trump wrote.
He described these critics as "Revolutionaries, but Revolutionaries for a Bad and Evil Cause" and suggested they are "working for people that do not have the best interests of the United States in mind." The post did not name specific organizations or individuals, but echoed Trump's previous skepticism of climate science. No new White House policies on AI regulation or data center development were announced.
