Huawei Technologies is set to unveil its Ascend 960 AI chips this week as it seeks to challenge Nvidia's (NVDA) dominance in China's AI market, Bloomberg reported Wednesday.
Rotating Chairman Wang Tao will present the chips at Huawei's annual summit in Shanghai on Thursday. The Ascend 960 is expected to be commercially available in 2027, with analysts watching whether it will be capable of training frontier AI models.
Huawei aims for its Ascend chips to run every AI model in China and abroad, Supervisory Board Chairman Guo Ping said earlier this month, according to the report.
