Disney (DIS) said US President Donald Trump's threats against journalists and broadcasters support its request for a US judge to block the Federal Communications Commission from conducting early reviews of eight ABC station licenses, Reuters reported Thursday, citing a court filing.
The court filing said FCC Chair Brendan Carr was implementing Trump's directives aimed at restricting speech critical of the administration, according to the report.
Disney and ABC argued that the early license reviews were being used to penalize broadcasters over programming and reporting, the report said.
The Federal Communications Commission and the White House did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
