HKMA Raises Base Rate to 4.25% After Fed Hike

The Hong ​Kong Monetary Authority on Thursday raised its base ​interest rate applied through the overnight discount window ​by 25 basis ​points to 4.25%, marking its first rate hike since 2023, according to an official statement.

The increase took effect immediately under a pre-set formula, mirroring the US Federal Reserve's decision on Wednesday to raise its target range for the federal funds rate.
