Computer Modelling Group has renewed and expanded its software licensing and support agreement with Brazil's largest oil and gas producer, Petroleo Brasileiro.

The Canadian software and consulting company said Thursday that the agreement renews and expands a prior agreement with one of its longest-standing customer, covering its reservoir and production simulation software.

Petroleo Brasileiro, or Petrobras, engineers use Computer Modelling's software across ultra-deep offshore and pre-salt fields, reservoirs producing oil with high associated carbon dioxide content, and long-producing fields that require more involved oil recovery methods, it said.

The company's software will be used to support Petrobras in evaluating recovery strategies and strengthening the subsurface analyses that are used in long-term development and capital-allocation decisions.
