0258 GMT - The Singapore dollar weakens against its U.S. counterpart ahead of the city-state's August CPI data release. The inflation reading will be the final key data point before the Monetary Authority of Singapore's policy meeting in October. Markets expect core inflation to edge higher to 2.2% on year in August from 2.0% in July, UOB's Lee Sue Ann and Quek Ser Leang say in a note. Signs of inflationary pressures broadening beyond energy-related components and rising food prices could reinforce expectations of further MAS tightening, they add. The U.S. dollar is 0.1% higher at 1.2756 Singapore dollars, LSEG data show.
